Nominations for the Awards are now open!
Five awards will be announced at the conference dinner. These awards acknowledge the work of weeds professionals for their outstanding contribution towards protecting NSW from the impacts of weeds.
The NSW Weed Biocontrol Taskforce Award
This award acknowledges the work of NSW Weed Professionals for their outstanding contribution towards adoption, planning, coordination, or on-ground weed biocontrol in NSW. (Open to all weed professionals within NSW)

Nominations due 30 June 2025
- Buerckner Award– for outstanding contribution to the on-ground control of weeds in NSW. (For employees of Local Government)
- Stephenson Award– for outstanding contribution to planning and managing weed management programs in NSW. (For employees of Local Government)
- NSW Weed Industry Award– for outstanding contribution to weed management in NSW. (Open to all weed professionals within NSW)
- NSW Future Leader in Weed Biosecurity Award For emerging professionals demonstrating exceptional promise in weed biosecurity in NSW. (Open to weed professionals who have been working in weeds for 2 to 4 years)

TRAVEL GRANTS
Weed Society of NSW Travel Assistance Grants
Applications close 30 May 2025.
A maximum of $1000 is available per society member for assistance with travel expenses. These can be used at the discretion of the successful applicant for payments such as conference registration, accommodation, fares and/or meals. Preference may be given to members who will be presenting at the event.

The Conference Future Fund’s Travel Grants for New Weeds Officers
Applications close 11 April 2025
The Conference Future Fund Committee is offering up to ten new weeds officers a $1000 travel grant to assist with attendance at the 23rd NSW Weeds Conference.
Who can apply?
- Weeds Officers who work for a NSW Local Control Authority and commenced work no earlier than 1 January 2023.
- You must also be a member of either the NSW Weeds Officer Association or the Weed Society of NSW
